Description of file types
GIFs and JPGs (72 dpi resolution) are usually placed on websites and are displayed in RGB color. They cannot be resized and must remain their original size when used. These files are not suitable for printing. If you need a different sized GIF or JPG other than the one provided, please contact us and it will be supplied at no extra cost.
A TIF is a high-resolution (300 dpi - dots per inch), high file format. It is suitable for importing into word-processing software. It is suitable for printing. The TIF made be resized smaller without loss of quality, but not larger.
EPS and AI files are a 'vector' images; they can be resized without distortion or loss of quality. They are also suitable for importing into word-processing software. The file size is much smaller than a TIF. This file type is most suitable for use by your commercial print shop to reproduce your logo at any size, and is used for most stationery print jobs.

IMPORTANT:
Most computer screens do not provide a true representation of the colors that are printed. They are only able to display a certain array of colors, and what we see on our screen may display differently on your own monitor or your printer's monitor. Therefore, when printed, your logo or design's colors may appear slightly different than as viewed on screen.
The EPS vector file is suitable for producing quality printing from software such as Microsoft Word or Publisher, but is most necessary when when taking your design to a commercial printing company to produce professional stationery and other jobs.

CMYK vs. Spot Color Printing
CMYK is the mix of four separate ink colors: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. Certain areas of color may not appear consistent when printing several copies of the same design. Consistency is affected by ink density, temperature, paper quality, and even differences in CMYK ink between printing companies.
To ensure that your design prints consistently, a spot color will guarantee the same look no matter which company prints it. The industry standard spot color system is the Pantone Matching System (PMS). Each Pantone color is represented by a code. For example, PMS 221 is a burgundy color. The EPS vector file we have provided for you will be composed of one or more Pantone colors. Your printer can provide a swatch book that displays the colors. (Remember that looking at the colors on a computer screen will be different than the printed product. A swatch book will provide the colors as they will appear when printed.) Also, please consider that ink will look differently printed on matte paper versus glossy paper. The swatch books your printer has should display your inks on both types of paper. They may even have your colors shown in 'metallic'.

Printing Costs
Spot colors are usually more cost effective to print than four color, full color or CMYK printing. You can provide your printer with the EPS file which uses one or more spot colors. Usually the job can be printed at a lower cost, while providing consistent color each time it is printed. It is possible if your design uses four or more colors that spot color printing may be more expensive than four color CMYK printing, and therefore you may opt for CMYK ink. Remember that printing CMYK can sometimes produce inconsistent color results between jobs, and from printer to printer.

It Can Be Changed
We create your design using Adobe Illustrator, a professional design software. Your design begins as an AI file (Adobe Illustrator native file). You will be provided this file type along with several other file types. The EPS or AI files can be easily altered to suit future printing requirements. If you decide your logo should be printed in a different color, contact us with the new color preferences using the exact Pantone color codes you require. We will make the changes at no extra charge. It may be possible for your printer to make those color changes to the EPS file for you before printing the file.
If you have any further questions on how to use the files we provide, or need further explanation of the information we have included, do not hesitate to contact us.
